"But Moses said to the people, 'Fear not! Stand firm! And see the salvation of the Lord, which He will show you today. For the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you shall never see again. The Lord shall fight for you, while you hold your peace.'" -Exodus 14:13-14 (MEV)

Wow! What a statement! The Israelites were facing a seemingly impossible situation. All the forces of Egypt were chasing them down with the intent to destroy them. God told Moses that He would turn it around for the benefit of His people. All they had to do was fear not, stand firm and watch God work His power, right? Take a second look. Did you see it? Read slowly...
Hold your peace. We’ve become so accustomed to saying that phrase without thinking about what it means.
Holding onto something implies that you have the ability to let it go. Israel’s success was determined by refusing to fear, standing firm, watching what He would show them that day and holding onto peace.
Of all things, peace is not something many people think of holding onto in a battle. You would think a sword and a shield is what you’d want to hold onto. Peace is one of those wimpy sounding words that gets overused. Jesus said in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” Think about it. This is the very peace Jesus possessed when He told the legion of demons to leave the man living in the tombs. The demons were so afraid and uncomfortable in His presence that they begged Him to cast them into the swine. It’s the same peace that reverberated into the winds and the waves in the middle of the storm and demanded that it obey and be still. It’s the peace that faced crucifixion, beatings, and endured the sin of the whole world—past, present and future. It conquered the power of death. This is the peace Jesus gives to you!
Peace rests in those who know and believe that God will do what He says, no matter what they see. They are able to sit back and relax even in the most impossible situations.
Hold your peace. Guard it, never let it go and witness the power of God in your life!
Declare The Word:
I FEAR NOT! I STAND FIRM and witness Your salvation in my life! Lord, as You fight for me, I HOLD MY PEACE. The peace I have is not wimpy. It’s storm-calming, disease-curing, death conquering, driving-out-demon peace! With it, I can withstand ANY situation I face because I KNOW I can trust You to keep Your Word!
