"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever." (Hebrews 13:8 NLT)
Constant. What does it mean? Unchanging in nature, value, or extent; invariable: steadfast in purpose, loyalty, or affection; faithful.
Jesus is constant. He does not change. He is also the expressed image of His Father. Jesus was and is holy, loving, kind, compassionate, forgiving, caring, etc. He promised that He would never leave us nor for sake us.
I remember when I was a baby Christian, new to the faith. My Pastor at that time told me how I should always give God thanks after I pray. My Pastor also taught me how I could talk with the Lord about anything. I could be truthful and tell Him all of my problems. So with this in mind I went to Him in prayer. On this particular day things where just not going right in my life (that’s how it seemed to me). I was totally upset about a matter—hurt, annoyance, anger. I poured out my heart (fussing) to God. When I was done my prayer I remembered what my Pastor said about praising God. I lifted up my hands in obedience and in faith said, "thank you" from a sincere heart. I expected to feel anger and rejection by the Lord. But what happened was the complete opposite. When I lifted up my hands and said, "thank you" He spoke to my heart. He spoke in the sweetest most loving voice that cannot be described and said, “I understand.” With such love He understood.
God loves us so much. He cares about every concern that we have. He wants us to share with Him and to trust Him. He loves us.
He reminded me that He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is constant. If He understood me and what I was going through back when I was a new Christian, He still understands me and loves me today. He is constant. His love never changes. We can trust Him. We can receive His love for today for all that we go through. He is the Lord and He changes not. Jesus is constant.
Remember our God.
Declare The Word:
Lord, Your faithful love never ends. I can trust You. I do trust You. Thank You for Your mercies that are new each morning and that last throughout my day. Help me to depend on You and talk with You often about everything. You are my God and You are constant. You remain the same. I thank You that I can talk with You about anything. I don't have to worry or have anxiety. All I need to do is trust in Your unending love and perfect faithfulness. That is what I do. I trust You and rely on You, Jesus, my God and my Lord. Amen!
Go Deeper:
The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, "The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!" The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him. So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord.
