Hinds' Feet

"He makes my feet like hinds’ feet [able to stand firmly or make progress on the dangerous heights of testing and trouble]; He sets me securely upon my high places." (Psalm 18:33 AMCP)

One night I had a dream about my daughters who are eleven months apart. At the time they were entering their twenties. They were playing and having fun on guardrails which were on a highway. The highway was very steep and continued up a hill that was very hard to walk on. My husband and I were also walking up the hill, but on the side of the road. My daughters were ahead of us and as we walked I kept yelling to them, "Stop playing and watch where you are going!"

They were talking and laughing with one another, but they did let me know that they heard me. However, they continued to talk and laugh, taking their journey effortlessly. I kept my eyes on them and noticed something very interesting. As they stepped on the guardrails they were not slipping or having any trouble at all. They stood and then would step from railing to railing with ease. Nonetheless, I was nervous and annoyed.

When I woke up from that dream, the picture of my daughters' feet, along with them smiling and being happy, flashed across my mind. Then inside my heart I heard, "Hinds' feet." Hinds' feet? I thought. It was the Lord. He was speaking peace and comfort to my heart. He was letting me know that as my daughters walked through life their feet would be like hinds' feet. Though they would travel through life and face challenges, they would be sure footed in Him. He would see them through all their trials, troubles, and tests.

He reassured me that as they began new phases in their lives He would be with them, never leaving them. He will be with them through the end.

So I needed to trust that as He is my God He will be their God too.

God is so good to encourage us. Through His word He says that He will make our feet like "hinds' feet [able to stand firmly or make progress on the dangerous heights of testing and trouble];" (Psalm 18:33, AMPC). He assures us to "train up a child in the way he should go: And when he is old, he will not depart from it." (Proverbs 22:6, KJV). It is so important to teach our children about the Lord in every area and aspect of life. God is faithful and will keep His Word. He will help all of us and make our feet like hinds' feet as long as we love Him, trust Him, and stand on His word. Believe Him. His word is true.

Declare The Word:

Lord my God, You are my Strength, my personal bravery, and my invincible army; You make my feet like hinds' feet and will make me to walk [not stand still in terror, but to walk] and make [spiritual] progress upon my high places [of trouble, suffering, or responsibility]! I praise You forever! I praise you for the truth of Your word in Habakkuk 3:19. I take this truth for myself about myself. I thank You and I trust you. I praise Your name forever! So be it!
